My Objectives

"The resistance that you fight physically in the gym and the resistance that you fight in life can only build a strong character."

Arnold Schwarzenegger

What I love the most about bodybuilding is how much the activity involves mental power. Those looking in from the outside, without knowing the sport, might think that, to be a fitness athlete, everything boils down to the body: gaining muscle and having a controlled diet. Yes, this is a reality too, but it is only the visible part of those who are not inside what, in fact, bodybuilding is. I say this because the invisible part says how much we need to have mental strength, exactly to be able to control our body to have severe dietary restrictions, highly exhausting training and to withstand the pressures of competitions.

The mind is an important instrument and, when it is not fully conditioned to support the emotional load of a competition or preparation, or even a personal goal set by an amateur athlete, this mismatch is automatically reflected in the result and performance. After all, it is up to our psychological dimension to integrate motricity, tactical knowledge and even physiological potential, in order to guarantee high performance.

This is not a skill that a person is born with, but personality characteristic that is developed through adequate psychological work.

As an high-level athlete I need to demonstrate adequate psychological readiness during training and competition, and also manage to maintain an optimal state of attention and presence, in addition to mastering thoughts and emotions that hinder performance.

This "mental training" provides me with something that I believe is a fundamental point in my deep self-knowledge journey. This is in no doubt how I understand my limiting beliefs, and in this point I understand that mind and body work together balancing the self-awareness and discovery.

In essence, practicing bodybuilding allows me to seek my limits and consequently improve mental preparation pushing them to the limits.

Is this search for the self perfection that joins in harmony the body and mind.

Bodybuilding is just natural in my life.
